Community Service Accomplishments
Accomplishments during my eight years on the Burlingame City Council, 1997 to 2005
I was born and raised in San Mateo County and am proud to call it home. I am thankful for the wonderful community in which we all live, but I am well aware of the high number of people in need. I feel a strong responsibility to give back and to help those around me, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved with the extraordinary organizations listed below.
Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County
The Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County serves as a legal advocate and representative for disadvantaged people. We work closely with community organizations and county agencies to find solutions to our clients' legal problems. Much of our staff is bilingual in English and Spanish, and we use Language Line Services to translate and communicate in a variety of other languages.
I have been involved with the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County for over 14 years, either as a Board member or as its Treasurer. Making sure that all citizens have access to representation is a passion of mine and the reason why I donate my time to such a great organization.
