The San Mateo County Tax Collector/Treasurer oversees the billing and collection of all San Mateo County revenues, fees, licenses and bonds totaling more than $15 billion annually and manages $2.5 billion of County pooled investments. The position requires experience, expertise, specialized training, ethics and fiscal responsibility. My experience, education and training meets these requirements. I have been a Certified Public Accountant for 30 years. I have served as a City Councilmember in Burlingame for eight years, including two years as Mayor. This, and my recent success in passing the Series 7 General Securities Representative exam provides me the expertise and knowledge to restore competency and sound fiscal practices to the San Mateo County Tax Collector/Treasurer position.

My family is the bedrock of my life. My wife Helen is a Registered Nurse and serves as an elected member of the Peninsula Healthcare District Board. Derek, our oldest, is completing his 2nd year of Medical school at Tulane University after graduating from Reed College. Andrew graduated from UC Santa Cruz and has finished his Paramedic internship and training. Erin graduated from Lewis and Clark College and teaches Bikram Yoga and is getting her Masters to be a Physician's Assistant. Tricia graduated from UC Riverside and works for a local doctor and our youngest daughter, JoEllen, is attending her first year of college at Stevens Institute of Technology and is playing varsity lacrosse.
